The German solar company and the Deutsche Entwicklungsgesellschaft sign a cooperation contract for a solar project in Jordan
Alheim-Heinebach, January 9, 2012. The Kirchner Solar Group starts a cooperation project in Jordan. The construction project is a public private partnership (PPP) which the company realizes together with its affiliated firm sonnen_systeme Projektgesellschaft GmbH, the Deutsche Entwicklungsgesellschaft (DEG) and the Berrou Ingenieur Consult GmbH in cooperation with the University Rostock from Germany. The program aims to reduce the dependency of Jordan on imported energy and therefore focusses on the huge local potential for renewable energies. This project will be executed in Jordan with the local partners Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, National Center for Research and Development (energy program), Al-Balqa Applied University (BAU), and Al-Jaar Est. for Environmental and Industrial Consultations (AEEIC). The main emphasis of the project work lays on tracked Photovoltaik (PV)-systems in use to take advantage of solar energy like concentrating PV power based on 2 axis tracking systems, passive solar heating, individual solar rooftop systems, solar cells and solutions for the off-grid field as well as transportable Solar Home systems. These technologies generate solar energy at the best competitive price level. The cooperation additionally aims to sensitize decision makers and relevant professional groups in Jordan on the advantages of photovoltaic systems for generating electricity in Arab countries. Furthermore the project includes the implementation of tests and research to elaborate the technical preconditions as well as the development of a concept and guidelines for the realization of solar energy production in Jordan. Jordan has a high potential for exploiting solar energy as it has one of the most sunny daylight hours of any region in the world due to its geographic location. |
